This very popular paper with its archival characteristics in conjunction with the Fuji range of chemicals is used for all our photographic printing for images up to 12×18 inches (300x450mm). For larger images, * see below.
This is the very same paper we use to print all our Storybook albums and Photo-books -for assurance of the highest quality print and archival qualities.
Fuji Crystal Archive paper combined with the Fuji Frontier printer produce remarkable results with extreme consistency. Images that have been corrected or processed in photoshop or other conversion software will match identically time after time.
On-board post-production – Frontier printer:
The frontier offers image correction software that produces remarkable results. With the right operator, many additional features can be incorporated for fast processing with great correction.
The two alternatives:
The Frontier allows two image adjustment options, Manual and Auto. In both cases the images are presented on the screen for the operator to work on. The Auto feature adds sharpness, contrast, it does a density correction and a colour correction. The image then remains on the screen for the operator to make further adjustments as they feel are required. The level of auto features can not be controled, it is on or off. Manual correction entails the opperator being able to view the images and make small corrections. No Sharpening or contract option is availble, the operator can only control Red, Green and Blue (where Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are the opposites). Density correction is also possible.
We recommend the manual option to clients who are starting to do their own post production on their own PC. This is especially important to people who are working on screens that have not been professionally calibrated or thoroughly tested. Along with colour correction, they are adding sharpness and contract, this leaves it up to our operator to only fine-tune the colour and a slight density change where needed. This way the photographer can slowly have more and more control over the final product.

As a professional lab, we want a luxury environment for our clients. With the imminent arrival of our new Frontier 570 digital printer back in 2006, we decided to revamp our entire reception area. By installing this new fast printer, we felt we could introduce a service where customers could wait for their prints. Sure, many labs offer this serivce but as a pro lab, we were going to take it a step further. We installed a professional espresso machine, three tables, a total of 15 leather restaurant chairs and four Photoshop workstations in our reception area. Any other lab would have to rely on their clients walking through a mall to other stores. Pro labs in malls are in reality not possible.
It is not our intention to run a coffee shop with cakes and snacks, we offer espresso drinks exclusively – Cappuccino’s, Latte’s and our popular Chococcino with rich dutch chocolate. The past two years have shown a very positive response with regular Clique customers and their favorite drinks.
Our table combination has been a great success allowing space for many photographers to meet with their clients, attend to image processing on their laptops, surf the net while waiting for prints or finishing and packing their orders for delivery. We offer free Wi-Fi internet throughout the store and free internet access on our workstations in reception.
We introduced picture framing in our business as far back as 1988 when the business was still a photographic studio. Our high quality custom framing took on a life of its own and grew into a successful business within Studio22.
We first advertised in PiX magazine in about 2003, soon after we opened our lab to the public. Much like ourselves, PiX have grown with the times and shown remarkable improvement over the years, adapting to the changing times and remaining the industry leaders in South Africa. Studio22 is proud to be an advertiser in this publication.

The popularity of our genuine photographic Storybook albums created a demand for an alternative option. Our Coffee Table Book selection was born. A cost effective alternative that differs from our Storybook albums in the following ways:
– Pages are a thin 120gsm
(Our Storybooks have 2.5mm thick mounted pages)
– Pages are not laminated
(Our Storybooks are all bound with laminated pages)
– Full wrap around cover
(Our Storybooks uses a Duo cover)
– Magazine quality printing
(Our Storybooks are printed using Fuji Crystal Archive photographic paper)
Manufactured in Cape Town, South Africa.
Layout and design:
Our design team offers a basic layout for a Coffee Table Book. This layout is not as busy or complex as that used in our Storybook album. Clients are welcome to supply their own design, where the possibilities are endless. Please be sure to visit our website for the finer details of design requirements.
FREE Studio22 Album Maker software: UPDATED
We now offer a free software package that enables you to create a number of products on your own PC or Mac. Visit www.coffeetablebooks.co.za to download the free software or collect a FREE CD from Studio22.
iPhoto design: Yes, we can print form iPhoto.
Our binding system allows us to make a slight modification to the format of our standard A4 book to produce iPhoto books. Mac owners need only save their complete projects to PDF and our designers will make the required changes. iPhoto software has been written with counties like South Africa in mind and kindly allows for files to be exported in PDF format. Although we are not able to print in all the sizes listed in the iPhoto menu, our A4 option is ideal. We recommend clients use the “large” option when designing their book in iPhoto. A further advantage – although iPhoto only permits a maximum of 100 pages, we can join two books and make one slightly thicker one. If a client wants 120 pages for example, we suggest making two books with 60 pages each and our designer can combine them. The greatest difference when producing our Coffee Table Book from iPhoto design is the slight change we need to make in order to convert the cover to our full wrap around cover. As we do not print a dust jacket, we would include the additional pieces as extra pages in our books.
All books or albums we produce are only printed once a proof has been viewed and signed by the client (this excludes the new Album Maker software with online orders). In the case of long distance orders where we cannot mail the proof to the client, we have a clause that allows us to proceed on the clients behalf. The proof is printed on the same paper as the final book, using the same printer, it is therefore a proof for layout and colour.
