When you need a quality canvas custom printed and stretched, Studio22 is the place to go. Our professional photographic lab oversees the printing and hands the stretching to our in-house custom framer – Colin Sunkel Framing. We offer a proofing service that provides a miniture print on canvas to ensure your image has the look you are aiming for. We are also able to supply a darkroom stype test strip, this produces a section of the print to the full resolution and scale of the final prints. This is ideal when enlarging small files or producing extras large prints as the true ‘noise’ or ‘grain’ can be previewed. All our canvas prints are sent for UV coating after the complete printed has cured. The UV coating not only adds to the longevity of the final print but forms a water resilient surface to aid cleaning.
By offering a this turnkey service, customers are able to see samples of various finishes and alternative stretching options, including the selection of 20mm or 45mm stretcher depths. See more on our website.
Box-mount: This is the typical mounting method used for hanging the good old movie posters. It is the most economical way to mount a print while still presenting it perfectly flat mounted and with a simple hanging option. All our mounting is done with the use of a vacuum press, by removing all the air, the prints are pressed flat and no bubbles can form. The price on our price list for box-mounts excludes laminating or the print.
Metro Block: Our Metro block (for a preview, follow the link for Urban canvas below) is an all inclusive product. It includes the print, lamination, mounting and frame. It consists of a photographic print which is cold laminated (matt is our standard) and mounted on hard board then pressed into a black frame with quality finish. As the print is laminated and the mounted print is pressed into the frame, no glass is required, making this a light and uncomplicated option.
Urban Canvas: Our Urban canvas is also an all inclusive product. It includes the printing of the canvas print, UV coating, mounting of the canvas onto hardboard and pressing into a frame. As the canvas is UV coated and the mounted canvas is pressed into the frame, no glass is required. This makes it light in weight but with a rich look from the canvas texture inside. The same black frame with quality finish is used but in reverse, allowing it to have a thicker black border than the Metro block and with the same depth – approx 45mm deep.
Our lab and workshop operate from Studio22 in Cape Town – South Africa.
