This is not a technical showdown, I only plan to introduce an alternative. I have noticed many discussions on groups and forums regarding flash triggers. Phottix Atlas is one of the most popular units under discussion (Pocket Wizard seem to be the unanimous No. 1 choice but price is an issue). We stock Pocket Wizard, Phottix and JYC at Studio22.
Like most manufacturers, JYC produce a number of triggers with various functions. I feel the JY-2400 is the strongest in their team. 2400 referring to the 2.4 GHz frequency that allows the 100m range of this radio trigger. The production quality is top of its class and certainly the best in its price range (Only R595.95 per set in Feb 2011).
Point no. 1. the JY2400 is sold as a kit with a transmitter and receiver. These two units together are about half the price of a single Phottix Atlas transceiver. Additional receivers are avilable individually.
Point no. 2. JY2400 is a three-in-one kit. It is a remote flash trigger for a speedlite or studio flash and it works as a wireless camera remote. All the cables to perform these tasks are included in the box. You need only ensure you request the unit which carries the cable for your camera (this is indicated on our website).
Point no. 3. JY2400 units are compact, less than half the size of the Phottix Atlas.
Take a closer look at some of the images below. Do not hesitate to pop in and test our demo units in store at Studio22.
Here are the views of the Phottix Atlas. Not only are they styled closely to the Pocket Wizard Plus, they share certain functions and accessories.
