With our new secure FTP server, it’s like having the entire Studio22 team on your doorstep.
How does it work?
You can upload files to your password protected folder on our server, no matter how large your files. You will need to follow your upload with an e-mail containing the order instructions and one of our team will reply to confirm the order and the relevant deadline. The FTP can be used for any type of digital order from the typically large, large format image files and entire photo books down to simple small print orders.
Long distance:
This service is a great advantage to our long distance and international clients as we no longer need to wait for the postal service to deliver the DVD or CD to us, this may half the time currently required to process orders. It is a further advantage as the postage or courier fees are also far less (this can be added you your ISP account for larger bandwidth I guess).
FTP vs e-mail:
Although we have been receiving digital orders via e-mail for many years, this has always been limited in files size. Large orders would need to be divided over a number of e-mails to avoid the mail server rejecting them. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to create a folder on our server as if it was a folder on your own computer. Using software like Filezilla, the files can be transmitted via the internet connection and controlled to ensure all files are uploaded. Using Filezilla means a break in the connection will be memorised and on reconnecting, the files will not need to be sent all over again but only from where the connection was lost. Sure, there is still space for improvement in these fields and massive opportunity for increases in line speeds. This will no doubt be happening in the near future.

The free Studio22 Album Maker software has a built in FTP client connection, once you have finished designing your album you need only click on the ‘Order’ button and the software will connect and send your complete order to the allocated location. An FTP upload dialog box appears on your screen to indicate the progress of your upload. You will once again receive an e-mail from one of our team to confirm your order has arrived, this will not be an automated reply, the order will first be viewed by one of us before we mail you personally. Please ensure you enter the correct details on the order documentwhen sending your files. If you are interested, please visit our store or website, alternatively, e-mail fullybooked@studio22.co.za and request more information.
