I’m sure you know about our wide range of Coffee Table Books and Storybook albums, maybe also about our personalised DVD’s, Wooden USB’s and PresentAccordions, but not everybody gets to see the many custom projects we are commissioned to do. These custom projects often happen behind the scenes and get seamlessly processed with all our other photo book orders, but there are some exciting challenges and projects we would like to share with you from time to time.
Some of the popular custom projects include photographers and designers portfolios, menu’s, guest books and high end brochures. This was our first request for a ‘brand book’. We were approached by the South African distributors for Superga, the makers of a popular Italian shoe brand. The artwork was supplied from Superga head office in Italy and the brief was, ‘to make a brand book, with dividers, which could have pages added and removed at a later stage’. The idea is to distribute this “brand book” to the various stores for them to show clients the outline of the brand, Superga.
On seeing the artwork, we proceeded with a prototype in order to test the page sequence, make extra allowance for the dividers and chose the screw binding option (just like our Studio Album range). One of the key criteria was for the accurate colour reproduction of the Superga brand’s main colour, Red. This red was used on the covers, on each page divider and on various pages in the book. The logo was supplied along with the Pantone colour references. The prototype was approved with minor alterations and the complete order was shipped to head office for distribution.
